Ruthless the Musical

February 2007

RUTHLESS! THE MUSICAL is a schmaltzy, outrageously funny parody of the old Shirley Temple films as well as such classic motion pictures as THE BAD SEED, ALL ABOUT EVE, AUNTIE MAME, and the musical GYPSY. This musical spoofs child actors, housewives, critics, agents, and teachers with enough absurd plot twists and multiple identities to fill several old movies!

No one will get in eight-year-old singing/dancing Tina Denmark's way toward her destiny to stardom: not her sitcom-ish mother Judy Denmark, nor her neurotic and equally ruthless agent Sylvia St. Croix, nor her loopy third-grade teacher Miss Thorn, nor her talentless rival Louise Lehrman. But when Louise wins the plum title role in their school musical, PIPPI IN TAHITI, Tina resorts to extreme measures to secure the lead for herself!

Winner of the 1993 NYC Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical, this hilarious musical hit earned rave reviews during its long Off-Broadway run which featured a young Britney Spears in the title role.

RUTHLESS! THE MUSICAL is a demented pleasure and a total joy. Fasten your seatbelts. It's going to be a bumpy night! Or should we say a campy night!
