The Opera House Players, bringing a little bit of Broadway to Broad Brook
Founded in 1968 we are one of the longest running community theatres in the area exclusively producing musical theater.
About the Opera House PLayers:
Originally the St. Martha Players we moved from Enfield in 2003 to the historic Broad Brook Opera House—built in 1892—and changed our name to the Opera House Players.
In 2004 we built tiered risers so that every seat in the house now has a great view of the stage. The vaulted ceiling, with its curved beams, create an atmosphere of timeless majesty within our cozy 150-seat venue.
The Opera House is spectacular, but our reputation is built on the uncompromising quality of our productions. Talented actors come from across the state to audition for our shows. Our sets are creative and innovative. Our musical directors set a high bar for the vocals and instrumentation, which are the linchpins of a great musical.
While we have won awards across many of categories, our costume department—headed by the incomparable Moonyean Field—has developed as its own area of fame.
And finally, our directors have the vision and leadership to bring everything together to create the magical experience of quality musical theatre.
